Meat Industry

The meat industry is our primary market. Thermal transfer ribbon delivers reliable, high-contrast printing of use-by dates, batch numbers and variable data on challenging substrates — including greasy films, cold packs and high-speed flow-wrap lines.

We work with processors and packers across Europe to match ribbon grade to your printer, line speed and packaging material, ensuring compliance and legibility from chiller to retail shelf.

Common labelling challenges in meat processing

  • Grease and moisture on film surfaces can cause poor ink adhesion with the wrong ribbon grade.
  • Cold-chain storage (chiller and freezer temperatures) makes some inks brittle or prone to flaking.
  • High-speed flow-wrap and tray-sealing lines demand fast, consistent ink transfer without smudging.
  • Traceability regulations require batch/lot codes and use-by dates to stay legible through the full supply chain, including retail handling.

Choosing the right ribbon formulation

Most meat packaging uses coated paper labels or BOPP/PE flexible film, which is why we recommend a wax-resin ribbon as the default: it combines fast, cost-effective transfer with the smudge and light grease resistance needed for chiller and freezer environments. For vacuum-sealed pouches or heavier laminated films that face rougher handling or longer shelf life, a resin grade provides extra abrasion and moisture resistance.

We rarely recommend pure wax ribbons for meat packaging — while economical, they are more prone to smudging when handled with damp or greasy gloves, which risks illegible date codes at the point of sale. See our thermal transfer ribbon page for a full breakdown of wax, wax-resin and resin formulations.

Why processors choose Zhuoli Europe

Our team matches ribbon grade to your specific printer model, film supplier and line speed, and can dispatch samples for on-line testing before you commit to volume. That means fewer re-prints, less downtime and consistently legible codes from the production line to the retail shelf.

Key benefits

  • High-contrast, smudge-resistant print on greasy and cold substrates
  • Reliable performance at high line speeds and low temperatures
  • Grades matched to film, tray and flow-wrap materials
  • Consistent legibility from chiller to retail shelf
